A practice/thumbnail sketch for a larger piece of art I'm doing for a friend. Not certain what medium will suit a blk dog. Maybe acrylics?
I agree with Izzies assessment of my imagination sketch....chew it up and spit it out...but none the less, thoroughly enjoyed the process, so it's all good.
The shell with keys, 2nd bit to fit in with the Still Life Project http://oobos.blogspot.com/ A poor attempt at a shell but that's life, isn't it? Maybe next time.

LOVE the dog - I love the texture on his fur - brilliant!
Your dog sketch is great. Painting dark animals is really hard for me. (I have a brown and bronwer tortie cat... and the "local color" always messes with her "shape and shadow" colors. Good luck no matter what medium you use.
And regarding your comments on my emphasized pillow in the life drawing work... I totally agree that it takes away from emphasis on the figure. For what it's worth, I was trying to add contrasting line qualilty. All that graphite was just gray and soft and I wanted more angularity and contrast. If I were to do a painting of it, I could use color and hue contrast rather than value!
love your dogs both the drawings and the real one!
Hi, nice dog drawing, may I suggest charcoal, you fine them both in stick and in pencil, different colours too. Charcoal pictures can be spellbinding.

Sue, your energy and devotion to learning this year are wonderful! I think you've done a wonderful job with your dog sketch (or, as I originally typed, 'a wonderful dog with your job sketch;D')!
Conte crayon would be fun for your dog--- or acrylics making black out of viridian and alizarin--or use the wax resist method you used so successfully in your water sketches below. You could try making several different versions, using all those media. Regardless, it'll be fun to see what you do!
So many great medium ideas well worth a go. Thanks much guys!
I really like your watercolour shells and keys, against the hand writing they make such interesting pages. Glad you liked my oak studies, thanks for the lovely comment.
I like this idea of placing the shell in the foreground and writing in the background. It's interesting - your sketchbook page looks really good.
wow.. great job. I especially like the dog. sorry I don't have any medium suggestions that have not already been mentioned.
I love your watercolors combined with writing. You are a very creative artist! I would love to see more of these posted if you do more.
Gorgeous sketches and......Izzy?, Is adorable.
